Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commitment Statement:

As a new gym, Phoenix Fitness is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment that values and celebrates the intersectionality of our members. Historically, many groups have been disproportionately marginalized at the gym, and many people lack access to the transformative effects of personal training and fitness. Intentionality was placed on embedding foundational principles of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) during the planning of this gym.

Our commitments:

We recognize the interconnectedness of various identities and strive to create an environment where individuals of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, colors, abilities, cultures, religions, gender expressions, and socioeconomic backgrounds feel welcomed and respected.

We aim to continuously educate ourselves, listen, and learn how we can be most effective in crafting solutions and advancing causes of critical importance to marginalized communities.

We strive to prioritize inclusion in our practices, ensure equitable access to resources, and actively work to dismantle systemic barriers that hinder diversity and authenticity at Phoenix Fitness.

We recognize and honor the unique identities, experiences, and perspectives of each individual, and we are dedicated to creating a safe space where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to pursue their fitness goals without fear of discrimination or prejudice.

Together, we will champion inclusivity, challenge biases, and strive for equity in every aspect of our gym community.

DEI Code of conduct:

As members of the Phoenix Fitness community, we commit to upholding a code of conduct rooted in diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will take responsibility for our actions and encourage all members of our community to adhere to the following commitments:

  • Respect the intersectionality of our fellow members, recognizing and valuing the diverse identities, experiences, and perspectives present within our community.

  • Avoid any form of discrimination and bias based on race, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, culture, color, religion, or any other identity.

  • Avoid stereotyping and mocking any specific group.

  • Expand access: if you recognize a group who is missing from the gym, reach out to our leadership team to help us build equitable partnerships.

  • Stop or change activities that may be offensive or alienating to a specific group.

  • Use inclusive and non-offensive language.

  • Utilize gender neutral words in groups to avoid gender assumption and misgendering.

Together, we will cultivate an affirming gym culture that fosters respect, empathy, and understanding, ensuring that all members feel valued and empowered to thrive.
